Do You Think President Trump's Declaration That Presumptive Democratic Presidential Nominee Joe Biden is “Against the Bible” and Claim He Would “Hurt God” If Elected to the White House Will Ultimately Be Effective?

Quint Forgey of POLITICO wrote:Former Vice President Joe Biden defended his faith Thursday in the face of fresh attacks from President Donald Trump, who declared the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee is “against the Bible” and claimed he would “hurt God” if elected to the White House.

“Like so many people, my faith has been the bedrock foundation of my life: it’s provided me comfort in moments of loss and tragedy, it’s kept me grounded and humbled in times of triumph and joy,” Biden said in a statement.

“And in this moment of darkness for our country — of pain, of division, and of sickness for so many Americans — my faith has been a guiding light for me and a constant reminder of the fundamental dignity and humanity that God has bestowed upon all of us.”

A devout Catholic, Biden has recited Scripture on the 2020 campaign trail and is known to carry rosary beads in his pocket. “Faith sees best in the dark,” he says frequently in public remarks, quoting the Danish philosopher and theologian Søren Kierkegaard.

Biden also has spoken and written at length about how his faith helped him grieve the deaths of his wife and 1-year-old daughter after a car accident in 1972, as well as the death of his son Beau in 2015 due to brain cancer.

But in a radio interview Thursday with television personality Geraldo Rivera, Trump said of Biden: “He’s against the Bible. Essentially against religion. But against the Bible.”

The president repeated his claims when addressing supporters in Cleveland hours later. “He’s following the radical left agenda. Take away your guns, destroy your Second Amendment. No religion, no anything. Hurt the Bible, hurt God. He’s against God,” Trump said.

Biden said in his statement late Thursday that Trump’s “shameful” comments were “beneath the office he holds” and “beneath the dignity the American people so rightly expect and deserve from their leaders.”

“They show us a man willing to stoop to any low for political gain, and someone whose actions are completely at odds with the values and teachings that he professes to believe in,” Biden said.

Despite his significant support among conservative evangelical voters, the president’s past statements on matters of religion have drawn admonishments from some faith leaders and skepticism regarding his stated Presbyterian faith.

During the 2016 campaign, Trump memorably mispronounced a book of the Bible as “Two Corinthians,” was seemingly unable to cite a Bible verse despite describing it as his favorite book, and revealed he did not think he had ever asked God for forgiveness.

Last December, the country’s top evangelical Christian magazine called for Trump’s removal from office, citing his role in the Ukraine scandal that resulted in his impeachment and his “grossly immoral character.”

And in June, Washington-area faith leaders rebuked Trump’s violent dispersal of peaceful protesters outside the White House to accommodate his photo opportunity at a nearby church — going so far as to suggest his posing with a Bible outside the house of worship was “antithetical” to the core tenets of Christianity.

Trump previously tweeted last December, amid the Democratic presidential primary, that his eventual general election opponent would be a “Radical Left nonbeliever” who threatens Americans’ freedom of religion and gun rights.

But the president’s latest attacks come as he has amplified cultural flashpoints in his faltering reelection campaign against Biden, seeking to deflect criticism of his administration’s response to the coronavirus pandemic and instead highlighting issues of race and religion.

Trump has most recently seized upon Biden’s assertion in virtual appearances Wednesday and Thursday that, “unlike” the Black community, the Latino community is “incredibly diverse.”

The former vice president attempted to clean up his comments in a series of tweets Thursday evening in which he wrote that he did not “mean to suggest the African American community is a monolith — not by identity, not on issues, not at all.”

Trump quickly condemned Biden’s remarks outside the White House, while the president’s campaign called them an example of “condescending white liberal racism” and accused Biden of having a “plantation owner mentality.”

“After yesterday’s statement, Sleepy Joe Biden is no longer worthy of the Black Vote!” Trump tweeted Friday morning.

OK.  I know Biden has some cleanup work to do and he has the ability to do so, unlike Donald Trump.  Trump calling out Biden on his faith, saying he's against the Bible, will "hurt God" if he's elected?  This coming from the same guy when asked what his favorite Bible verse was, he couldn't name one.  When he went to quote a verse from Scripture, he mispronounced "Second Corinthians" ("2 Corinthians" or "II Corinthians") as "TWO Corinthians."

First of all, let me try to make some sense of this one statement.  How can Joe Biden hurt ALMIGHTY GOD by being elected President of the United States?  For all of you Bible believers out there, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't God create Joe Biden?  The same God who created Donald Trump?  And if Donald Trump is so pro-Bible, why is it that when it comes to his speaking, he hasn't invoked any scripture from the Bible, his supposed favorite book?  And if he's so pro-God, why is it that he feels that he DOESN'T have to ask God for forgiveness?  I don't know who Donald Trump THINKS he is, but he is not bigger than God.  When he realizes that, he will bow down before Him.

    Just Saying.
