It's time for another installment of BETHEA'S BYTE: FREE BYTE. In this edition, I'm angry and I'm angry at so called parents who NEGLIGENTLY have left children in a hot car. So why am I so angry? Read this!

Just recently, we have already had a man in Georgia go on trial for leaving his son in a hot car in order to have "extra curricular activities." This occurred in 2014, and he was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison in 2016 on the following charges:
Now we have this UI (unidentified idiot) doing the same thing. How much common sense does it take to remember THIS IS YOUR CHILD! YOU PUT HIM/HER IN THE BACK OF YOUR CAR! IT'S SUMMERTIME! THE WEATHER IS HOT! WHAT'S HOT OUTSIDE IS HOTTER INSIDE!!!
C'MON PARENTS! GET IT TOGETHER! IF YOU'RE GONNA PUT YOUR CHILD IN THE BACKSEAT OF YOUR CAR, REMEMBER THAT HE OR SHE IS THERE. ACT LIKE YOU HAVE AT LEAST THAT MUCH COMMON SENSE. LET ME REMIND YOU ONE MORE TIME. THIS IS SUMMERTIME! THE WEATHER IS HOT! IF YOU LEAVE A CHILD IN THE BACK OF YOUR CAR, YOU WILL LIKELY FIND THAT CHILD DEAD BECAUSE WHAT IS HOT OUTSIDE IS HOTTER INSIDE. USE YOUR HEADS FOR SOMETHING MORE THAN A HAT RACK!
JUST SAYING!!!

CBS News and The Associated Press wrote:PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. -- Florida police say an infant that was left in a parked vehicle Friday has died. The National Weather Service reported that temperatures in the area Friday afternoon were in the mid- to upper-90s.
The parent had come to work and left the 17-month-old boy strapped in the car seat, with the engine turned off and the windows rolled up, authorities told CBS Miami.
Later in the day, about eight hours later, the parent realized what had happened and called 911.
Paramedics performed CPR on the child and rushed him to a nearby hospital, but the toddler had died.
Investigators are not sure if criminal charges will be filed.
The police department is providing services and support to the parents of the toddler.
The investigation continues.
"Leaving children in a car is a year-long hazard, but it is especially dangerous in the summer months when temperatures can soar over 100 degrees. It's only a matter of minutes when the passenger compartment of a car can exceed well over 100 degrees," said Pembroke Pines Police Sgt. Adam Feiner.

Don't forget your elders. It isn't reported as often as when babies are forgotten, but older people are left out in cars too. Remember to leave the windows open for them, with some cold water.

Again, common sense! We can't say it enough... What's
outside is HOTTER inside during the SUMMER!
I mean think about it. If the air temperature is 90°, what do you think the

I am not a engineer or anything and have sent this idea to automakers 15 or 16 years ago. Have child seats that are weight sensitive and have it hooked up to car horn. When child is placed in seat it will trigger a pressure button to alert the driver that there is someone sitting in seat after a certain period of time after car is turned off the car horn will go off simulor to car alarm.
Sounds like an idea. Until then, we still have to use common sense. If you have a child in the car, think about that BEFORE you get out. The weather is hot in the summer. It's hotter inside the car. It doesn't take a genius to figure out what happens when a child is left in that kind of heat.

I have heard time after time that parents are too busy and that is one reason why. I think it is a lame excuse. If you have children then you need to be mindful of everything that involves a child.
I know here in Oklahoma it gets over 100 degrees in the summer and it takes no time for the inside of a car to get dangerously hot.

I agree with you. It is a lame excuse. You do have to be mindful of your children in cars especially when it's hot out! Like I said in the last post, it doesn't take a genius to figure out what happens when a child is left in that kind of heat.
