    Well, we had an election two years ago... and now, we're having another one Razz .

    Basically, Parliament is deadlocked over the whole Brexit issue - and so, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has called an election in order to try and improve his position there. There will be a great many parties competing, but the main ones are:

    • Conservative Party (Boris Johnson's party; has negotiated a deal to leave the EU, and wants to get this deal through Parliament. On other issues, they're the furthest-right of the main parties);
    • Labour Party (Doesn't like Boris Johnson's deal and wants to re-negotiate it, then wants to have a referendum where voters can choose to accept this deal, or remain in the EU. On other issues, they've run hard to the left);
    • Liberal Democrats (Wants to cancel the entire Brexit process, and remain in the EU without holding a second referendum on the matter. On other issues, however, they're pretty centrist);
    • Brexit Party (Sort of an inverse-image of the Liberal Democrats: they think Boris Johnson's deal doesn't go far enough and they want a 'harder' Brexit, but they're more moderate on other issues. They're not running in Conservative-held seats: instead, they're focusing on Labour-held seats that voted Leave - and there are quite a few of these!)

    The Conservatives currently have a large lead in the polls, but the election is still a month away, so I guess anything could still happen!

    Sounds like one of those issues you can take to the Roast Master General with your best shots on parliment.

    Just a suggestion. And who knows. If it's funny enough, your roast will be given the Seal of Approval.

    Yeah, probably is... I don't have a lot of nice things to say about any of the parties, to be honest Razz .

    And, sure: if I can think of anything funny to say, I will!

    Well, it's slightly old news now (since the election was three days ago), but the Conservatives took a commanding victory, with 365 seats (out of 650). Labour got 203; the Scottish National Party got 48; and the Liberal Democrats got 11. The rest went to an assortment of minor parties.

    I'd be lying if I said I was happy about the result, but I actually don't feel as bad about it as I perhaps could have done. This is because, while I didn't like Boris Johnson, I wasn't fond of Corbyn either (I actually voted Lib Dem because I thought Corbyn had gone too far to the left). Another thing is, Boris winning a comfortable victory might paradoxically be good news when it comes to Brexit. After all, if he'd only won 325 seats, then he'd need to get his entire party on board (including the most extreme Brexit hardliners). However, with 365 seats, he doesn't need the most extreme wing of his party - so he has the option of pursuing a more moderate Brexit deal, if that's what he wants.

    I guess we'll just need to wait and see.

    If you're gonna roast some one, please take to the Office of the Roast Master General. If it's funny, I will give it my Seal of Approval!
