White House Says it is Confident U.S. Senate Will Exonerate Trump After Impeachment IlWna

    From REUTERS

REUTERS Staff wrote:WASHINGTON, Dec 18 (Reuters) - The White House said on Wednesday it was confident the U.S. Senate would exonerate President Donald Trump in a trial after the House of Representatives voted to impeach him for abusing his power and obstructing Congress.

"Today marks the culmination in the House of one of the most shameful political episodes in the history of our nation. Without receiving a single Republican vote, and without providing any proof of wrongdoing, Democrats pushed illegitimate articles of impeachment against the president through the House of Representatives," White House spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham said in a statement.

"The president is confident the Senate will restore regular order, fairness, and due process, all of which were ignored in the House proceedings. He is prepared for the next steps and confident that he will be fully exonerated," she said. (Reporting by Jeff Mason; Editing by Peter Cooney)

    Democratic House = Impeachment
Republican House = No Removal From Office.

Let's look at this in the time machine. Year: 1998. President of the United States: Bill Clinton.

    Republican House = Impeachment
Democratic Senate = No Removal From Office.

The signs are there. The only way that Trump is getting out of office is when he is voted out.

I've said it before, and I will say it again. This is not a prediction. THIS IS A SPOILER!

Hardly surprising - but then, like I said, this is what I'd expected from the beginning.

I suppose the only way he's convicted is if the GOP decides it would rather have President Pence than President Trump - which I suspect at least a few of them would privately prefer to have - but then, I don't see any public signs of that right now.
